Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Our Special SageI have a special child, his name is Sage Wherever he went, he took centerstage. Born on a special Christmas day, What a wonderful gift to a wonderful day. He was bright and happy and full of life, But all this changed in his second week of life. He slept through days and cried through nights, Doctors were baffled, something’s not right. Feelings of fear and anguish turn into despair, Please don’t leave yet, there’s so much to share. Then a guardian angel called Denise came, And she gave his sickness a name. It’s called MSUD, she said solemnly, Then added, there’s no cure, unfortunately. A lifelong special diet will make sure he lives, Hopefully, a strong and healthy life. Our lives have been different since that day, A roller coaster of emotions everyday. But Sage is with us, that’s all that matters, Happy and full of life again, our little fighter. Cindy Tan July 2007 A poem written by one of my students' mum. A touching poem and he is certainly a fighter. |
