Steven Covey's 7 Habits

Rational: These 7 habits help us to move from dependence to independence to interdependence.

Habit #1: Be Proactive

  • Behaviour is a product of decisions based on values rather than a product of conditions based on feelings.
  • Proactive person choose not to be controlled by others/external factors. "Act,Not Be Acted On"
  • Proactive person knows he/she is responsible for his/her own effectiveness and happiness.

Habit #2: Begin With The End In Mind

"Begin life with the end of life in mind.."

  • Habit 2 is a leadership habit; deals with directors.
  • Can begin by writing personal mission statement, philosophy or creed. It deals with direction. What you value in life can be valuable tool for groups or individuals. The key i sto have it written in people's minds and into their hearts..take time over it.
  • Goal is to get centered around a set of principles, values and purposes that transcend.

"Tie Yourself Not To Your History, But To Your Potential."

Habit #3: Put First Things First

  • Management habit deals with speel, co-ordination, logistics and going in that direction, time management.
  • Put first things first focuses on priority; goal is to manage self an dnot time.
  • Difference between important and urgent.

Habit #7: Sharpen The Saw; Self Renewal

  • Habit 7 is a seld-maintenance habit.
  • Continual self-renewal involves 4 dimensions of our nature.
